About Hands Across the Street - Dream Center

Hands Across the Street/Columbia Dream Center is the community ministry of Columbia Presbyterian Church. We seek to spread the love of Jesus through our various outreaches, including a soup kitchen, Food Pantry, Summer Food Service Program, Power Packs, community meals, adopt a block, Clothing Bank, Restart Day Center, and a Homeless Shelter. We work closely with local businesses, organizations, and churches. We want to "find a need and fill it, find a heart and heal it".

This is a small snapshot of our services to the community in the month of October:

Soup Kitchen - 2365 individuals served

Community Meals - 127 individuals served

Food Pantry - 482 families served

Clothing Bank - 464 individuals served

Restart Day Center - 183 service connections made

Shelter Bednights - 603 nights

Hands Across the Street addresses homelessness year-round through the Columbia Shelter, during the 21/22 FY we provided over 6000 bednights to those in need. We introduced our Restart Day Center in 2020 which is open every weekday from 8-4 to our Shelter guests and the community where they can access our caseworker for help with resources.

The free Clothing Bank, our first outreach ministry, is open twice weekly to anyone in need.

The Food Ministry of HAS addresses food insecurity in Columbia through our twice-weekly Food Pantry, a soup kitchen that serves lunches weekdays, and two monthly community meals featuring live music and KidzJam at the 4th Street Café. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) feeds our community's children during the summer recess. We also distribute Power Packs to the school to provide weekend food for children.

We will have parking lot attendants to direct you. The alleyway to reach our lot is just past the church on the 4th Street side on the right. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Handling Money

We cannot process cash or checks at our in-person event. Here's what you can do:

  • Credit Card: The Best Option! Simple, secure, automatically tax receipted for gifts of $20+. Visit the Donate page, share your personal page link, or have your donor call CNOY Head Office.
  • Checks: The Old Faithful - made payable to Blue Sea Philanthropy USA with the name of the walker or team on the memo line. Mail them to CNOY Head Office along with your completed pledge sheet. (Scroll down to find the address)
  • Cash: You have 2 options:
  • 1. Login to FundHub, click “Enter $$ and Checks,” create pledges for your cash donations, pay them off with your personal credit card, and keep the cash. OR...
  • 2. Write a check (made out to "Blue Sea Philanthropy USA”) for the total amount of cash you’ve collected. Mail it to the CNOY Head Office with your completed pledge sheet.

Waivers

All participants must register online this year and accept the electronic waiver.

  • Adults: When you register online, you automatically accept an electronic waiver, which is all that is needed for adults.
  • Youth/Children: If you have youth or children on your team, they will need to have their parent or guardian sign a printed paper waiver.
  • Someone on your team (like you!) must take a photo of all child/youth waivers and send them to waivers@cnoy.com.
  • Waivers will be available at check-in on Event Day.
